As of this evening (5/25/26), I have moved my DMR bridge to the AmComm Network. AmComm is a global DMR provider like others, but its based here in Arkansas and I'm a sucker for the home turf. Sounds great, and really appreciate them moving us over. The bridge(s) have been updated and things will propagate across the DMR-verse over the next 24 hours or so.

SO this weekend I put into service a new POCSAG/DAPNET wide area transmitter. The radio feeding it 25 watts at 439.9875 MHz is in Mountain Home for now as we do some proof of performance testing. I am going to amplify the signal eventually but even at 25 watts pagers are getting pages 15 miles out. This is great! We'll use this for AUXCOMM but also it recieves pages from other rubrics also you can subscribe to at DAPNET and will probably send them to you, such as DX Cluster, TIME/DATE, and other things. I've not integrated weather alerts into it yet since it could make the system noisy. I will add transmitters in other places as I build them OR you can use your current Pi Star or MMDVM to create local transmitters and help spread the coverage area. Works well at night for notifications!

Why? Its just another tool in a toolbox of many amateur radio technologies for notifications, passing information, situational awareness and other stuff. Also, we like to tinker.

Want to try this and get a cheap pager? Here is a sample (shop around) PAGER SAMPLE

If you're in Arkansas, or close, you're welcome to connect your Allstar node or repeater here. No fuss, no muss, all voluntary. I appreciate everyone thats been working together to bring radio to the masses. The purpose of my system is to assist Arkansas Auxcomm, but you're welcome to chit chat or monitor at any time. And when the Auxcomm starts up, get on there and help if you want. I'll help just about anyone who needs it. I appreciate you all!

After saving the hard drive, cloning it into a new computer, messing with IP addressing and routing, rebuilding and installing backups, as well as general hijinks, it was back up last night after some hours. The hub is now on a major improvement of a computer, echolink and digital bridges are rebuilt and all is well. The loss of a computer always stinks-quite literally when it lets its magic smoke out- but thats the world we all play in. Hats off to the old Minix; she ran 24/7 for several years. Guess it was just tired. I have a UPS upgrade I need to do still and that will be probably next week as I'll have to power down things in order to move them and want to make sure things are completely stable before that happens. Once done, it will hopefully purr along for a long time. So thats the answer lol. Enjoy -Chris, NA0D
